Summary of Yakima Carbon Monoxide (CO) Maintenance Plan
Background
Yakima, Washington, was designated nonattainment for carbon monoxide (CO) and classified as “not classified” upon enactment of the Clean Air Act Amendments in 1990.
Washington submitted a limited CO maintenance plan on September 26, 2001 and EPA approved the Yakima limited CO maintenance plan on November 1, 2002 (67 FR 66555 (pdf) (7 pp, 155 KB)).
Summary
The plan relies on control strategies needed to maintain attainment of the CO National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS). The strategy focuses on a motor vehicle control program, and residential wood stove combustion.
